I Went on an Adventure!

Back in April, I made a post about The Biggest Loser.  I thought it would be fun to try out and so on and so forth. At the time, I really didn’t know if I would go to a casting call or not. I was pretty sure I would send in a video. Actually, traveling to stand in line with a gazilion other hopefuls was not something I entertained.  Hanging around in the heat and sweating with a bunch of other fat people didn’t sound appealing at all.

I started following the Biggest Loser Casting Facebook page. Reading questions about the casting process. Reading some pretty amazing answers to questions.  Slowly,I started to make friends on there. I started to check the page more often.  I really enjoyed most of the folks on the board. Some I started to look forward to their replies to questions.  It seemed like a nice community of like-minded people. No judgements being passed and strong sense of community.  The more I read the boards, the more I wanted to meet these people. Which meant I really wanted to go to a casting call!

Salt Lake City was the closest casting call to me. It wouldn’t be too pricey for a flight. I had never been to SLC, this would be a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.  Mr.Bernie agreed with the idea and I started to make plans to go. Very excited to be able to tell my new friends that I would get to hang out with them at the casting call.

Going to SLC meant I couldn’t go to Minnesota this summer. When I shared that with, Jenny, she said she would meet me in SLC! She had always wanted to go there and she could see me. How cool is that? Michele wanted to go too, however, she was ending her breast cancer treatments and was pretty uncomfortable. It was decided sweating in line for 7 or 8 hours wouldn’t be a good thing for her.

I only told a select few that I was going.  It was something that was too personal to really want to share with the world.  I told people in dribs and drabs and on a need to know basis. Everyone I told was very supportive and excited for me. I just wasn’t ready to share with EVERYONE until now.

Last Thursday I flew out for a new adventure!

I have lots to share and will over the next few days. (Except for my Wordless Wednesday)

  1. China let me view your blog when it has blocked me from everyone else’s so I guess it knew I have been dying to hear all about it!!!!! You have me pulled in……….

    • I feel very honored that China let you view me. I must not be as much of a threat as I thought. *lol* Hope you are having fun!

  2. Yeah, Bernie! This is fantastic. I never doubted that you would follow up on what you started. Can’t wait to hear how this all turns out and here’s hoping you get on the show, which I never have watched but will if you’re on it. Rah! Rah!

    • I had doubts if I would actually follow up on this to be honest. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained (or lost as in this case)

  3. I’ve never watched Biggest Loser, but I’ve sure heard a lot about it. However, I can’t wait to read about your experience. Maybe I’ll even start watching the show (or at least be inspired to lose some weight).

    • If I can help to inspire one person I would be happy. I’m almost to the point of inspiring myself to start to move. *lol*

  4. How exciting! I can’t wait to hear more about it. I’ve never watched Biggest Loser (mainly because T.V. just doesn’t interest me) so I don’t know much about the show but I’m all for the kind of networking you did and making friends with people through fb or other sites of ‘like-minded people’ then getting the chance to meet them down the road. That, is exciting! So happy for you that you took the opportunity.

Looking forward to the next chapter!

  5. This is such exciting news Bernie! I can’t wait to read more about your adventure!

  6. Auntie Jack says:

I agree with Mary 100% she took the words from my mouth. So happy Jen could join
you not only for the fun but the support a true friend can offer. Look forward to hearing
    all about it. Love Ya

  7. I am so proud of you for going!! It showed the commitment you have towards your goal and I really think you can do it. Set up your support network and keep on driving eachother towards your goal and it will work wonders!! Just remember the two golden rules, if it came out of the ground or off a tree you can eat all you want, and if you can’t pronounce it then it belongs in a lab and not in your body. Those 2 will get you a long way. :) I am here with pom poms cheering you on!!! xoxox

  8. Wait…. NO MINNESOTA!?! You never told me THAT. lol I would have been waaaay less supportive if meant no chance to see Bernie this year :) Just teasin’. Can’t wait to read your next installment!

  9. I think it is great that you went and that Jenney was able to join you to have some fun time together. the show doesn’t know what they missed. You are a great person with a wondeful sense of humor and would add alot to the show.
