I’m on a Creative Team!

My first design as an offical Creative Team Member

When I first started the Project 2011, New Year challenge,  I had no idea where it would lead. I know I wanted to so something crafty and creative, but had no idea what to do. I decided to start making cards, with stamps. Mr. Bernie and I own a stamp shop, how hard can that be? Pretty darn hard if you ask me. I hated it. I couldn’t get anything to look right. It smeared or was too light I was getting frustrated before I even really started. There had to be a better way.

Fast forward a few weeks…..I was dorking around on Etsy and discovered digital images. (insert angels singing here)  Huh, who knew such an amazing thing existed? It was like playing with color-forms from when I was a girl. Just move things around and set them in place and you have something pretty. The very first Etsy seller I bought images from was, Patty of Lisa’s Altered Art. She held my hand and baby stepped me through making cards. She explained to me the difference between a JPG and PNG. She has a different design program than I do, but was happy to try to help me figure out Corel Draw when Mr. Bernie was sleeping. She was willing to size up images, as I don’t make anything tiny. She would send me surprise images with my orders. How cool is that? Honestly, I think that if she hadn’t been so kind, I might have given up on designing anything. The woman has the patience of a Saint. She is also funny as heck, which is a huge draw for me.

Designers, like Patty, have Creative Teams. They are people who use her images to make purty stuff and post it around. Their designs get viewed and the designer gets some free advertising, its a win-win for all. Once I realized what a Creative Team was, I wanted to be on one. It just so happens that Patty had an opening this month and gave me a spot on her team!! How cool is that? I know I was pretty excited about it. Each designer has different requirements. Patty requirements are  that each designer submit at least one design a month and pimp it on their blogs, Facebook, Flickr and so on. That seems easy peasy. I have some designs that I have done with her images saved from when I first started. I have used quite a few of her images for cards that my friend, Charlie, sells in his book store.

Now that I’m on her team, I have a bio on  Lisa’s Altered Art website!! I’m all important and stuff. I tell you if you are looking for fun and images and/or designs you won’t find anywhere else, look her up!  I can’t wait to play with this month’s new images!! I also have a cool button on the right of my blog with a link to her page and announcing I’m on her Creative Team.

A huge Thank You to Patty for thinking I’m funny and liking my stuff. What more can a girl want?

  7. That is SO awesome, Bernie!! How exciting for you. I can’t wait to see what designs you come up with next.

    • Thank you. I only hope that when I “need” to make something my creativity doesn’t get sucked up dry!

      • Always have a few stored up, so you never get caught! Of course, you’ll need to forget you have extras, so you won’t come to rely on them. Just conveniently remember at the last minute. :-)
