Wordless Wednesday

Ohhhhh and Ahhhhhhhh Which of these items would please you the most?
In the day I’m sure they were lovely gifts and on every wife’s dream list.
How excited would you be to get a new iron as a gift?
I can think of 30 other ways to “Please a lady” and a toaster isn’t it!

This image is used with permission from Casey Page, a wonderful photographer with the Billings Gazette.
She was digging around in the archives and shared some fun old ads she found.
There are a couple more I will be sharing over the next couple weeks.

  1. Hi you have a very easy to follow site It was very easy to post good job

  2. My husband gave me a scented hot pad one year for my birthday. I was NOT a happy girl, not at all. Nothing for the kitchen, please, unless I specifically request it.

I may have told this before but hubby got me an electric can opener for my birthday the first year we were together! He had a reason, but I had already told him I want you to make a big deal of my birthday. We had a huge fight & he’s never done it since.
I am old enough to remember when this was par for the course.

  4. Holy cow have pop up automatic toasters come down in price! Considering this ad is from the 50s that would make that $99 about $200 in today’s market. For that kind of money I am thinking a spa day would be better. :)

  5. LOL – Bernie, I want to see this list of 30 things. :-D

At one point an iron would have pleased me, but then I bought one for $5 at a thrift store, so now receiving one would not please me. I’m fickle that way.

  6. Well obviously to please a women she needs to be in the kitchen or doing some sort of other household chore. Then they are in their place as well :)
