DIY Dry Erase Board

I got this frame for under 10 bucks. The quote on the frame sold me.

Every new year I have a goal to make menus for the week. It's handy to have them all written down on some kind of board so I won't have to go looking for a scrap of paper during the week. My folks gave me a great dry erase board, but its too long to hang anywhere. I had it in my head I knew what I wanted, just not sure how to make it happen. Enter, Pinterest, with their handy little DIY tutorials. I must have combed about 10 different pages with just as many ideas. I thought to myself, "You can make that. You have the paper and a bit of knowledge of how to make things crafty." So I'm ending up the new year with a new to me craft project that I'm going to share with all of you. I ran to pick up a cheap frame. I liked the ones with several frames in one. That way I could turn each one into a day of the week. Even though I have more paper than I can ever use, I still needed new paper. I know you scrapper and card gals are with me on this. Mr. Bernie suggested that I print … [Read more...]

The Little Picture that Could

My original has more color. You can see it on my Flicr. This is an image someone decided to lighten up for some reason. But I'm not going to post my original again.

Many of you who have been following me for a while know that I had ZERO confidence when it came to my card designs. I never thought they were anything that anyone would really like.  It never occurred to me to put a watermark on my image.  I freely shared them on my Flickr account, blog and Facebook because I thought only my friend's were going to care. Even if they didn't care, they would still be encouraging. I was in for a HUGE shock last night. When I made the image above, I was working on a slow computer. It took about 6 minutes to even get the images into my Corell Draw program. It was slooooowwwwwww. I still didn't have the knowledge of how to put the words on the luggage. I found the quote and had an idea. Poor Mr. Bernie had to come in and help me make the magic happen. He showed me how to manipulate the images on the luggage. It was a process. That was the first card I was pretty proud of. It didn't use my usual vintage images of kids or woman. It had a fun … [Read more...]

Proof That I Have Been Busy

squarescream (Small)

The craft fair is in a few days. I have been rushing around trying to get stuff done. Mr. Bernie has been helping to cut papers for me. Which is kind as I would spend 40 minutes trying to get one image straight. Then it would only be about a 1/2 wide. I feel like I'm flying when he is helping! I just wanted to show off a few of the fun things I made over the past week. I'm still not done, but this gives you an idea of some things: We found a great deal on some mirrors and decided to add some fun to them. We scraped off the back of the mirror. Then we added a picture on vellum to show through the hole. One top of that we added the same picture on white paper. It kind of gives it a 3D effect. We made a couple different kinds of mirrors. My friend Beth Ann from Its Just Life forwarded me a cool Halloween craft idea she saw. Someone spray painted a plastic skull with chalk board paint. How cool is that? I thought that I might be able to do that and not mess it up too badly. We … [Read more...]

Time to Start the Thank You Notes

IMG_1064

I'm officially back in Montana. Time to get back to blogging. I have so many stories to share that I don't know where to start. I will share those over the next few days. I do know that it's time to start my Thank You notes. This year I will be making my own notes, which takes a bit longer. I didn't realize how much I would miss crafting while I was gone. I would rather make Thank You's than trying to find homes for treasures I picked up in Minnesota. Me putting stuff of? Nah. I learned some new techniques while I was gone. I decided to try some of them out on a Thank You for Mom. When I went to Archiver's at Mall of America, I learned some new things. One was how to distress the edges of an image. I picked up this cute little heart that has a razor blade inside. You run that around the edges of the image and it gives you a distressed look. I also had an ink pad I had no idea how to use. The gal at Archiver's showed me how to use it to give images a vintage look. I used that all … [Read more...]

Budugalee is Open on Etsy!

banner_760x100

I would like to announce the Grand Opening of Budugalee! I finally got an Etsy shop started. I figure this will give me some extra sheckles in my pocket for our trip to Chicago. So far its only individual cards.  Mr. Bernie suggested selling them as sets. I wanted to try to get some up and see what kind of response I get. I may add sets as time goes on. I'm so excited and nervous. I'm not good at doing the description part. The cards were scanned at work, so I don't remember which size I used for which. I will add that this morning when I get to work. Mr. Bernie made me the lovely banner. He will also make me a button to add to my blog as well. He is the bestest hubby ever! When you click the banner it will take you to my site. Please feel free to offer suggestions if you think there is something I can be doing differently. This is very new to me and I'm all about getting help and advice. … [Read more...]

I’m Having an Internal Debate

question

I've been up since 5am. That means I have been up alone and can just sit and obsess. Never a good thing for me. Mr. Bernie, Jenny and Michele will tell you that. I start thinking of a bunch of things and my mind just races. Some ideas I have are good ones, some not so good. It depends on the day or if I have PMS as to what I think about. This morning, I have been thinking about opening an Etsy shop. Yikes! With my upcoming trip to Chicago I want to make some extra play money. I thought about having a bake sale, but ruled that out. So I got to thinking about selling cards and rrecipe card holders online. However, I don't have a clue in hell how to do something like this. I don't know how people could customize them. For example: What color background paper or what type of recipes or even how much to sell them for. I also thought about decoupling some Halloween type looking jars. Who doesn't love Halloween? I would also need to go back to all the places I bought vintage images and … [Read more...]
