Cards Catch-up

Welcome to another edition of Project 2011. Every Thursday we all post about our goals for that week.  It was started by Cate at Moments of Whimsy Last week I talked about Zumba, a fitness goal. This week we are back to cards. Next week should be Zumba again. Something for you all to look forward to. My cousin, Haley, had the cutest wedding invites. I didn't want to take it apart to use the RSVP card. My Mom suggested that I make my own RSVP. This is what I came up with: Mr. Bernie suggested that I add some glitter paint to the champagne glasses. I thought that was a nice touch. He is so good. We celebrated a late birthday with a friend. She is a smoker and I thought this was cute a cute image: I added a rhinestone to the end of the cigarette. Some buttons in the corner. She was fun. My Auntie Jack had a birthday. She loves lilacs. I thought this gal would be perfect for Auntie: A little glitter paint on the flowers and she was ready to go. Finally, my cousin Jen … [Read more...]

I Finally Got Back to Crafting

Welcome to another edition of Project 2011. Every Thursday we all post about our goals for that week. It helped me to become more crafty. I also enjoy following the progress of the other gals. I have not done an update is weeks. Finally, I have something to report and share. It was started by Cate at Moments of Whimsy My cousin Mandy will be getting married in July.  Mandy and her hubby to be both love to hunt. I kept this in mind while making her card and shower gift. I'm pretty sure my card will be the only one that is not pink, silver or white. I thought I would jazz up the inside, just for fun. I should have asked Mr. Bernie which gun went to which bullets. I picked out shotgun shells and the prettier of the two guns stickers. When I showed it to him he laughed. He said, "Bernadette, you have a picture of a rifle with shotgun shells. A rifle takes bullets. A shotgun would take those shotgun shells." Huh, who knew? We figure that Mandy will get a chuckle out of that. It was … [Read more...]

My First REAL Project

I joined a Handmade swap online and have been busy making projects for my swap buddy.  After two weeks of having nothing crafty to report, I more than made up for it this week! It all started when I was looking for customizable recipe cards. I stumbled on the idea of re-using paper bags by printing a recipe card on them.  Brown Paper Bag Tutorial I was pretty confident that she didn't have any of these. They were easy and fun to make. Mr. Bernie is a God and helped me to customize them with her name.  I thought that was a nice touch. Once I found recipe cards, I thought she needed a holder for them. Not for the whole set, but for when she is cooking. That way she wouldn't have to lay the counter on the counter.  I found this fabulous idea: Recipe Card Holder I have been obsessing on this project all week. It looks amazing. Mr. Bernie was a huge help in bending the fork and getting it to adhere to the glass. I wanted to use papers that had recipe cards on them. I didn't find … [Read more...]

No Soliciting!

Today is Thursday, which means its Project 2011. The only thing exciting craft-wise was a package of fun stamps I received from Sheri from the blog My Left Over Life She got into making cards, every time she posts pictures I kept asking if she was using a stamp or stickers. Bless her heart, she picked up some fun stamps for me and put them in the mail. One was even a Halloween stamp! I just didn't have the ambition to make anything crafty. I should have something to post next week.   I would post a picture if our camera had batteries! Mr. Bernie was taking pictures of his flowers and didn't share with me that the batteries were dead. He just put the camera away and said nothing. I will have to post some next week, after we get batteries. Grrrr That would be the end of my post and that would hardly make it worth a trip to my blog today. However, I had an interesting day at work yesterday. I will add it to my post today. The Mr. and his Mom own our Rubber … [Read more...]

Modge Podge – Hodge Podge

Welcome to another edition of Project 2011.  Every Thursday we all post about our goals for that week. It helped me to become more crafty. I also enjoy following the progress of the other gals. It was started by Cate at Moments of Whimsy Last weekend I had such grand plans of things I wanted to get done. The husband was gone and I was going to spend the whole weekend crafting. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I did get some Modge Podge done. I also got a couple of cards made. Not quite the huge crafting session I had planned. Darn t.v.! I tried Modge Podge and found I really enjoyed it. My first attempt was very thick. I thought that the more of that slop I slapped on the paper, the better. I learned that less is more with this stuff. My first label turned out really thick. I'm still pleased with it. It's a learning curve and I know better. I used an image from The Graphics Fairy I poured over pages of images.  I wanted to find, just the right one. Here is the … [Read more...]

Meet My Cabana Boy

IMG_0725 (Small)

With Mr. Bernie gone I felt that I needed, no deserved, a cabana boy to take care of my needs. I decided that Gunther would do. My readers first met him here. He had been hanging around the house all winter not doing anything. Why not have him play cabana boy for the day? The day started out great. Gunther agreed to help me clean house. He needed to have an apron. I didn't want him to get his lovely outfit wet from doing dishes and such. I found him the prefect apron. I think he liked it as well. Just look at the big smile on his face. After cleaning for a while, he insisted on making me dinner. Who am I to say no? He decided to make Simple Sesame Noodles from The Pioneer Woman website. Gunther told me to sit and relax while he made the noodles. What a guy. Gunther surprised me by being a gentleman, he took of his hat and his lovely bachelorette tiara. He loves that tiara. Wears it all the time. But I digress. He didn't tell me that he had never used chopsticks before. If I … [Read more...]
