How Are People Finding Me? Part 2

spyglass-300x224

When you have a blog, you can see how people are finding you. Did they click a link from a friend's blog?  Did you leave a comment on another blog and you are found that way?  Many times its via searching for something else that people find blogs. In May of last year, I did a post about how people were finding my blog.  You can read it here. Click on the pictures or links in this post to go to the original posts. One would think that the number one term would be about purses, ads, something funny, anything. Alas, no. The number one search term is spyglass. People looking for  this image! Click it to read a boring post about my new orange coat.   Thanks to a hilarious guest blog post by my friend, Sweaty, Huh! is the second most popular search on my blog. Huh! Who knew?   The term "Cabana Boy" must be very disappointing to some folks!   I'm pretty sure that our Valentine's Dinner at Subway is not what people are searching for when they look for … [Read more...]

Today I'm posting two ads. Both for the same product, 10 years apart. They both struck me as so unique, I couldn't pick just one. Both ads are from: Duke University Digital Collections This ad is from the 1920's. I try to have thing on hands for my guests, but I never thought about something like this. I found the marketing them to keep on hand for company a different type of selling point. This ad is 10 years later, 1930. Now everyone can enjoy Curads! They only take up three inches of space in your suitcase. Look how lovely they are next to your cold cream jar. There is a selling point!   … [Read more...]

These two ads cause me to have questions: 1)What is a picnic beer? I thought all beer was picnic beer. 2)Are these the same ads just with the words changed? 3)Who knew there were caves in Faribult Minnesota to store kegs? Thank you so Audrey from from Minnesota Prairie Roots for the Wordless Wednesday suggestion. I'm working on the other suggestions and having a hard time finding anything interesting from the grocery stores. I will come up with something one day. And as for the Swollows Brewing, suggested by Beth, I've only come up with labels so far. Will keep on this one as well. I don't suggest the meek or easily offended type in Swollow or swollows in Google images. It was eye-opening for me. If you have a suggestion for a Vintage Ad you want to see, suggest it in the comments. If I use your suggestion, I will add your blog link to my Wordless Wednesday post. … [Read more...]

I know that I usually find amusing vintage ads. However, I ran across this one and it really made me think. As funny as some of the Tampax ads can be, this one really touched something with me. I couldn't imagine having to call out of work due to Aunt Flo. I'll bet that these really did help those women who were working during times of war. … [Read more...]
